Twelve years at Christ Church Grammar School during a period of post war shortages was a positive and character-building experience for Graham Walker (’56) who returned to the School for Grandparents' Day in November. Joined by his grandson Ben Hart (Year 11), Graham reflected on his time during the Moyes years that left lasting impressions. “I’ve always held that it is the family that lies behind the strength of the community as a whole - it is the associations we form within our communities that bind us as a nation. I consider our family’s long association with the School one such bond” said Graham. “As a boarder for the first six years, there were initial feelings of loneliness but the experience instilled a degree of personal resilience, along with heightened appreciation of faraway exotic places and ethnicities” he said. Concluding his education as a day-boy, Graham said he gained a certain degree of confidence and above all, developed life-long and valued friendships. Graham was followed at the School by two brothers, two nephews and three grandchildren. |
