Senior School students in the Peter Moyes Centre (PMC) hope to apply their skills in a different environment, meet new people, find purpose in the pursuit of new tasks and develop independence as part of work experience in Years 11 and 12. Coordinator of the Peter Moyes Centre in the Senior School, Amy Porter, is looking for placement opportunities once a week for boys with a range of diagnosed disabilities and additional needs. “Work experience placements are individual and are dependent on each boy’s interests, skill set and appropriateness,” says Amy. “This year we have three Year 11 students who are seeking work experience opportunities across a variety of fields, commencing with half-day placements. The students are all covered by the School’s insurance and can be accompanied by a PMC Education Assistant for an additional level of support”. Sample tasks include: · Sorting and categorising items · Administrative tasks including shredding, basic filing, photocopying, scanning etc · Cleaning (the boys have experience washing cars from their whole class enterprise) · Communication and customer service · Taking orders or packing orders · Manual tasks i.e. moving items, stacking shelves · Doing stocktake If you are interested in supporting any of these students, please contact Amy Porter at aporter@ccgs.wa.edu.au or on 9442 1718 to discuss further. |
