In November, Old boys who attended Christ Church Grammar School during the 1950s received a warm welcome to a Senior School Assembly as this period of the School’s history was recognised. Reflections were shared, jazz numbers performed, and photos projected showing a very different landscape to the campus today. Alan Jones acknowledged the significance of all old boys and thanked the OBA for shaping the School over generations. “Such formal school occasions are always impressive, but I was particularly impressed with the ease and dignified manner in which the three boys addressed the assembled school and spoke of their grandfather’s time there. These school years are arguably the most formative in a young person’s life, then and now. I’m sure they played a major role in the direction each of us were to take in later life.”
“Looking back over the intervening years I am particularly aware of that rich tapestry of accumulated experience which informs the Christ Church community and its standing in the wider world. I hope, in the future, there will be further opportunities for students to learn from and share in this wealth of experience.” |
