Love of the bush, ocean, lifestyle, coffee and contentious conversation are just some of the pleasures of Albany according to Brad Williamson (’77), Guy Wroth (’77), Jon Doust (’65) and Peter Potter (’46). “We all live in the Great Southern and would not live anywhere else,” said Jon who is rallying support for a local reunion of old boys and St Hilda’s old scholars to extend the network. Despite the age difference these old boys share a common interest in local issues and storytelling, with reflection of school days prompting a mixed response. While Guy said Christ Church Grammar School did “nothing at all to prepare me to be an upstanding citizen, in point of actual fact it did the opposite,” others within the group were not so scathing. In Peter’s experience the School offered comradery, with those friendships and associations becoming very important later in life. The reunion will be held on Friday 8 November; click here for further details and to RSVP. Pictured left to right: Jon, Brad, Guy and Peter |
