2000 Lawson Douglas and Dave Allan are the new owners of the Subiaco Hotel, citing a business interest to refresh iconic heritage hotels. The partners also own the Exchange Hotel in Kalgoorlie and the Rose Hotel in Bunbury. 1967 David Airey is handing over the reins of his real estate business after 40 years, with son Warwick (’92) flying the family flag for another generation. David spent 46 years in real estate and served as the National President of REIA from 2009 to 2011 and REIWA President from 2011 to 2015. His grandson, Hudson, is enrolled at Christ Church and will be the third generation of the family to attend the School. 1964 Tony Scurry has set a target of riding 550km during the month of October to raise funds for kids with cancer. He thanks Rob Garton Smith and John Winzar for their support to date and encourages others to follow his story and fundraising page here. The Monsoon Cup It started some 15 years ago with the desire to play golf in Hua Hin (Thailand) and has since become an annual fixture for a group of old boy enthusiasts from a range of cohorts. Self-confessed ‘hackers’ Geoff Potter (’67), Allan Ledger (’66), Kim Craig (’68), Mark Macleod (’73), Bill Price (’62) and Tony Kiernan (’67) travel each year to claim the coveted cup, with the win determined by a mysterious, interesting and challenging handicap called the ChasMac system. “The win is important for its symbolic importance only. There is a small trophy, ‘Green Jacket’ and a few dollars,” said Bill. “My vote is for Hua Hin for the next Old Boys’ Golf Day!” he said. |
